  1. It makes me feel better to hear others, specially power users, say "I don't know why". Only been using Linux for about 6 months and much prefer it over Windoze. I often hear myself saying, I don't know why . . . This makes me feel less like a complete beginner.
(Only reason I still have Windoze on any of my computers is to connect to my guitar amp. The Boss sound studio is very flaky. Can't even use a USB hub.)

  2. Blender does not work on Linux Mint 22 VMware VM, either with upgrade from 21.3 or by doing clean install. Also if you login with wayland, the VM is slow and may experience various bugs.

  3. I will just wait half a year, when the .3 version is out. Tried the upgrade before and there were a lot of packages in the way that the upgrade application couldn't deal with. I tried to get rid of them by uninstalling everything that was not a flatpak, but to no success. It became too much of a hassle. So I will wait.

  4. Yeah I did the update tool the day after it came out I think.. I had a couple "orphaned apps" I think and I think it was a repository that was bad or something..other than that the LM22 upgrade went fine.. I triple boot my desktop machine with windows Ubuntu and LM.. I don't use the windows at all anymore really.. it's really just a storage spot anymore

  5. Great video!….was contemplating on new install and migration to LM22
might consider this route as my LM21.3 has lots of installed apps and dependencies

how about a video comparing in-place upgrade vs new install + migration( app installation and data transfer), with your current setup

  6. Perhaps you should create a guide on how to get traditional scrollbars (with two steppers, without smooth scrolling, without delays and with pageUp/pageDown when clicking on it) on Mint (and other GTK environments)… ๐Ÿ™‚
Right now only LxQt does things right.

  7. My update from 21.3 to 22 went smooth. The only wonky thing I saw was my KDenLive treats mono WAV files as left channel only. I searched for others having the problem. There are others, but didn't spot a fix. So, using ffmpeg, I converted the mono WAV files to mono FLAC files. The FLAC files worked. I don't remember re-installing KDenLive, like you did. Redshift vanished. Have not done anything about that yet. I use Mint 22 as my daily driver and am happy with it. The more I hear about W11, the happier I am about moving over to Linux (16 months ago). BTW, I have never had W11 boot up in my home.

  8. i never knew there was a tool to upgrade. i always assumed everybody installed it anew. if there is a separate home partition or a nas reinstalling should not be an issue

  9. I'm wondering if Linux Mint has added the prompt for user password when using the APT command in terminal. I just opened GNOME Terminal, typed apt update and hit enter, and got "[sudo] password for [UserName]:". It never did that before, so that might be the reason they didn't show sudo in the instructions.

And no, UserName is NOT my UserName. ๐Ÿคฃ

  10. I never had a problem with previous Mint versions but with a fresh install of 22 my laptop sometimes becomes unresponsive after Suspend. I have to do a cold shutdown and turn the laptop back on. I have moved to LMDE to see if that works better.
