Install VirtualBox 7 on Ubuntu, Windows, and Intel Mac

In this video, we install VirtualBox, a virtualization solution from Oracle that allows you to run a virtual machine (the guest) from your main operating system (the host). This can be useful for trying out other operating systems to evaluate them before you implement a more permanent solution like dual booting.

In the video, we take a bit of a Choose Your Own Adventure route where we install on three different platforms. You can click on the video chapter below to pick the OS relevant to you and then skip forward to 00:16:11 where we review the configuration options.

After installing, we import a (very) old VirtualBox hard drive and configure it. After we boot it up, we insert the VirtualBox Guest Additions image and install the newest version of the guest additions. After rebooting we can run our virtual machine full screen.

This video covers:

00:18:48 Set up a new Virtual Machine and import an existing VirtualBox hard drive file
00:23:41 Boot the virtual machine and install VirtualBox Guest Additions
00:26:02 Restart the system for the new Guest Additions to take effect. Now machine can run full-screen
