This is Windows XP build 2458 (2458.main.010310-1552) in VMware Workstation Pro. This is a Beta 2 build which was compiled on 2001-03-10 and expires on 2001-09-06 and was released to testers on 14 March 2001.
The requester of this build mentioned that they had trouble installing this build which was the reason for them requesting it. BetaWiki has made this note for the build: “On some copies of this build, the system may either freeze during boot or bugcheck due to a bug with the network interface controller driver. It is recommended to replace NDIS.SYS with NULL.SYS or a copy of the problematic driver from build 2457 or 2459.” It appears that some .ISOs are broken however mine is fine so I had zero issues installing it.
Oh and this is the first build I used VMware Workstation Pro 17 on and I kind of regret it as I found that it is broken. When I went to Movie Maker I was having all sorts of issues and it bugged out leading to a black VMware screen and 50% usage of my host’s GPU (which is a RTX 3070 Ti so that was rather unusual).
How I got this to run:
VMware Workstation Pro 17.5.2 (definitely downgrade or dual boot for a different version)
Backwards compatibility with VMware Workstation 6.5-7.0
OS Set to Windows 2000 Professional
1 GB RAM
1 CPU Core
30 GB IDE HDD
For drivers use VMware Tools 6.5 for SVGA and VMCI

This Windows Whistler Beta 2 build looks cool! So Whistler started to look very much like XP back in early 2001. Wonderful!

I think that the issue seen on Betawiki can be fixed by upgrading from Windows 9x to this build, like i did with build 2433 on Virtualbox (upgraded from Windows Me)
The ISO of Whistler 2433 i used is on old-dos.ru
Still, both this build and that build i tested are awesome builds!
