Windows 11 KB5034204 – notable changes for the European Union (EU/EEA)

Windows is getting some significant changes in the European Economic Area (EEA) to comply with the Digital Markets Act (DMA) – including the ability to uninstall Edge and Bing Search, customize Windows web search including support for third party providers and a choice of consent for syncing a Microsoft account with Windows.

These features are available starting with the KB5034204 optional update for January 2024 but are on a gradual rollout, so not all users currently have them. Features will be fully enabled by March 6th, 2024 (the deadline for gatekeepers like MS to comply) on version 23H2 devices.
