Windows 11 build 25158 was released on July 13, 2022 to the Insider Dev Channel. More features are finally showing up – if previous development cycles are any indication, now we’re getting to the ‘spicy’ stage – where many features and changes begin to show up.
This build introduces notification badges for Widgets to alert you when a breaking news story or alert is being shown in the panel. The search button has been updated with new designs – including two variants of a blue icon with a globe as well as three variants of a small rounded search box resembling the one seen in builds 25136 through 25151.
You can force enable this with ViVeTool:
vivetool /enable /id:39072097 /variant:x
X must be replaced with a number between 1 and 5 as there are 5 different designs.
The Camera and Media Player apps have received updates alongside this build – Camera has had a UI redesign to match Windows 11 while Media Player now supports ripping CDs.
