  1. Amazing work by the Asahi team! So tempted to go for it with this on my M1 Pro. Might wait until stability of proton has improved a bit though. As I don’t have a gaming PC, this would be the best option for me to play the vast majority of games that Amazon Prime gaming and Epic Gamestore throw at me every week. Obviously need to wait until there’s an Arm64 version of Heroic Games Launcher for Linux before I can play those though.
I do have one question. Do Steam games for which there is a Linux/SteamOS version work without issue considering they don’t need DX to Vulcan translation, just x86 to Arm64? I have so many of these that no longer work on Mac due to being 32 bit: Portal 2, Left4Dead2, X:COM, Amnesia. If this was the case, I’d probably go ahead and install it now. Also, in the future, when Apple inevitably cease supporting Rosetta 2, this will be a great way to continue being able to play games for which there are currently 64 bit Mac Intel binaries which will no longer work.
Can’t believe this is free to use. For the price of a lifetime CrossOver subscription, you can buy a decent secondhand gaming laptop.

  2. Im surprised you didnt try RetroArch just to show various emulated games because even tho the focus is on AAA gaming on Asahi, there is a lot of value to be had for emulation on a setup like this; tho in retrospect you can just play retroarch on the mac itself hahaha.

  3. Won't be messing with Asahi until the iMac got its audio support. Marcan said they are waiting to get an M3 iMac to work on it, but dunno how much time will it take.
