This process should work on any Intel Mac pre 2018 (without T2 security chip & secure boot). Thanks for the suggestion to install Linux on this old MacBook Air! It has brought new life to this old computer and I am really enjoying getting to know Linux, as I have never really used Linux in this capacity. 1. Excellent video, thank you. I just installed Linux Mint on a MacBook Air. It is now very fast and as smooth as butter. I got the computer for free and $20 shipping. I installed using Vintoy and Grub 2. The Wi-Fi drivers installed automatically.

  2. I have installed Ubuntu on my 2011 MacBook Pro and the keyboard and mouse are not working. I have to connect other devices via USB to be able to use the PC. Is there any solution?

  3. i have a 2014 Macbook Air and it works very well with Linux Mint. Only thing i have trouble with is the webcam drivers. I had it working momentarily and then it stopped again. Good thing I don't really use the webcam.

  4. Hi there. I tried to install Mint on my MacBook Air 2015 (Intel) ,a1466. Unfortunately when trying to boot from usb I can't do it. Holding down command or option key shows only the mac's gard drive to boot from . No USB is available. I searched the Internet, and I know that I'm not the only one facing this problem. Yet, no solution found. Maybe you know what to do to solve this problem? Any clue?

  5. Does your Macbook run hot? I ran the LM Cinnamon live system on a USB drive on my early 2014 MB Air 11 inch and it felt way hotter than it does running Big Sur. Looking around online, hot running seems to be a problem running LM on MB Airs.

  6. Mint is nice, as are SO many distributions. I am typing this on a Maestro Evolve loaded with EndevorOS. This a an Arch-based distribution with an update today to the Linux 6.7 kernel. …because latest is greatest. …and actually greatest for WiFi and audio drivers. Worthy of a look!
