Lithium mine being built on site where Native Americans say ancestors were massacred

Nevada has witnessed many battles, but now it has become the scene of a different kind of struggle – this time between the past and the future.

US President Joe Biden wants the US to be the world leader in electric cars, which requires lithium.

But a group of Native American Indians have accused one company of moving ahead to develop a major lithium mine on the site where some of their relatives were massacred in 1865.

The mining company disputes that claim and its position has been backed by a US judge.

James Matthews listened as tribe members explained why they are so angry about the project.

  1. Of course that is all the West know how to historically do, steal, destroy, kill, wreck, take, create debt, want more, waste, and rinse and repeat. Apparently this Lithium dig that will destroy land is meant to be the green solution…nothing but delusion!

  2. Native Americans are never discussed around the world like other cultures. These peoole have been through so much, yet never thought. Or talked about about. They are so neglegted. Nice to see that they are having some media attention.

  3. They failed to steal Afghan Lithium because the Afghans knew about the warpath. After twenty long years of killing and the Afgan natives won the victory and recovered their sacred lands..

  4. The people who brutally exterminated the Native Americans now consider themselves saviors and provide strong military assistance for the extermination of the Palestinian people.

  5. Look at the land it’s dry …. It takes water a lot of water and lithium mines can contaminate aquifers … it’s criminal .. against not only the Native American but it’s against our planet..

  6. To be fair lithium is on the way out for new materials. Heard sodium apparently hada breakthrough lately.

Also a better source of lithium exists in the salton sea that California killed decades ago. Better to mine there where they destroyed ruined the ecosystem.
