It has often been said that using the right tool for any given job makes the task go more quickly and easily. But what is the best methodology for beating back the babble of the numerous coding languages available? How does my team and my organization pick specific languages for specific jobs, so you can operate more efficiently, with greater scalability, and increased performance?

Choosing the right language for performing the repetitive tasks to treat infrastructure as code is a perfect example of this adage in practice. And although there are many languages and infrastructure providers to choose from, if you start with understanding your use case and workload requirements, the decision on how to best treat your Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) will become clear.

In this Tech Talk, Sr. Solution Architect Kevin Ng of Mirantis provides comparisons and weighs the merits as well as the limitations of using each of the following cloud native programming languages:
⏺ Pulumi
⏺ Terraform (HashiCorp)
⏺ Ansible (RedHat)
⏺ Chef (Progress Software)
⏺ Puppet (Perforce)
⏺ SaltStack (added to VMware)
⏺ Vagrant (HashiCorp)

After a complete overview of the tools, Kevin will walk you through an IaC example: installing k0s by Mirantis – our open source, upstream K8s Distro – on top of AWS EC2 instances. He will cover the specific prerequisites and install steps when leveraging each of these tools. Lastly, Kevin will outline some of his favorites, specifically for infrastructure management, configuration management, and even a little bit of both.

🚀 Ready to conquer your infrastructure management, leveraging the latest in Cloud Native programming languages to treat your Infrastructure-as-Code? Check out the Tech Talk and find the best tool(s) for your use case.
