How to Run Windows Apps on Linux using Bottles
Run Windows Programs on Linux with Bottles. I’ll be using Ubuntu 22.04 LTS to show you how to install Bottles. Run Windows Apps on Linux based systems, and most Linux Distros. Bottle uses Wine a translation layer (POSIX) to natively run windows APPS on Linux.

'/var/lib/flatpak/exports/share'

applications installed by Flatpak may not appear on your desktop until the

I was unable to see my folders and files, to solve it I opened bottles, went to the top right menu, chose preferences and all my folders were there! Then preferences and tried to add a shortcut and I was able to see all my folders and files. I hope it helps you.
What if i have torrent?
Great video. That opens doors to switching to Linux.
.
One question though,…
.
What about drivers?
Audio software uses hardware/interfaces to run audio
and you need the drivers. I don't think my daw software has any Linux drivers.
So can you install windows drivers on BOTTLES that talk to the windows
software that you also run on bottles?
.
thumbs up + subscribed.
Thanks for the help ! It can run my software for my RGB laser and after a little searching i was able to find the directory where it is installed so i could add my projects. I did a little test and seems to work fine.
there are programs for execute UWPs on linux?
Any idea why Bottles can't recognize MS Office installation file? After all it is proper setup.exe file. I can use it to install MS Office via PlayOnLinux and Wine but Bottles won't accept it. Strange…
hey there im new to this i tried to install the flatpak but it says sudo: apt: command not found
thanks and gratz on the 50k goal
Does anyone know how I can automatically start a certain Windows program in Bottles under Linux?🤔
is it possible to install bottles on a laptop witch dosent have an internet connection ?
Question, what if Windows Media Player is required for the program I am trying to run? I tried it, says that it's launching but nothing happens. I'm guess that's where I'm stuck. Thoughts?
I have MS Office 365. Excel is the only app I really need in Windows.
Can I install it with Bottles? Rather than dual boot or VM Box.
Any suggestions is appreciated.
this program is sooo slow. Lutris is simply better
Sorry to say it but your video demonstrates why so many are put off Linux.
If one is used to the Windows environment it’s no use saying how Linux is so customisable etc etc: it really IS like going back to DOS commands some of the time. There’s so much “help” online but every advice is different and confusing, and often relates to a different distro to the one I am trying.
?? Seems like extra work to do something that can be done directly thru WINE. ????
What assurances do I have that the package maintainers for bottles is in stealing my personal data?
Bro, let me me be the one to tell you but I have literally gone through 7-10 videos on how to properly install Bottles on Linux and you are by far, the most concise, straight to the point and not filled with useless fluff that takes up 10 minutes of a video's runtime. I've been on Linux for almost 20 years and I freakin' hate 95% of the Linux tutorials on YouTube. Good job on this man.
So say that you are using a graphic intensive program will it work nicely with your graphics card or no?
will my CAD program* work this way? tanx!! *ActCAD, a VERY-affordable pro CAD-program (your welcome :-))) I'm soooo-tired of MS making a "disappearing" OS (W10)!
I wanted to use it for H&R Block software, but it won't communicate the Activation code. Any way to do this?
Hmmm… not working for me.
I tried installing ChordPulse, a mini Band in the Box program, but couldn’t get any sound out of it, which wasn’t useful as I wanted to create backing tracks. Does anyone have an idea how to sort this out?
Thanks for the video. How about showing how it works with some heavy duty software like Qubase, Magix vegas, Premiere, After effects and other multimedia software?
flatpak is so slow in linux
you go thru this WAY TOO FAST
THANKS
I love you
i like to know if it can run Fort Zombie because if that work it would push me to linux
All of this seems like an bad idea to me. Installing anything outside of your home directory that did not come from your distro's repo is careless. Maybe that's how things are done in Windows but that's poor form administering Linux. But taint your system and see what I care.
does it works with adobe creative cloud?
I wonder how this works with using multiple instances of Metatrader 5.
Had some problems with wine, where I first put the copy in the same prefix & after running them a couple times I lost some settings.
Later copied the whole prefix to be safe.
After that I tried to create a .desktop for each instance but finally gave up after many hours. I gues it works with wine, just not easy to create shortcuts.
I'm getting an error
Error: no remote refs found similar to 'flathub'
Can the win software communicate with USB ? Detect usb memory stick or some other peripherals?
It looks like this information is already outdated and doesn't work. But then, I am only now getting back into Linux so it could be me. Naa, that is inconceivable. lol
Reading through some comments.
I dont understand why so many questions are ignored.
If you don't know the answer, don't let that intimidate you..
Allow yourself the freedom to simply state you don't know the answer, rather than answering certain questions and ignoring others..
Just something to consider..
