How To Fix Subsystem For Linux Not Working Properly After Upgrading To Windows 11

On Windows 11, Microsoft simplified the installation process of the Windows Subsystem for Linux 2 (WSL) to only one command to download and install all the required components, which includes the virtual machine platform and Linux GUI apps and in this tutorial, I’ll teach you how to resolve the problem.

Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) is a compatibility layer developed by Microsoft that allows for running Linux binary executables natively on the Windows 10 and Windows Server operating systems. With WSL, developers can run a GNU/Linux environment including most command-line tools, utilities, and applications directly on Windows.

Enable Virtual Machine Platform:
1. Open Start.
2. Search for Turn Windows Features on or off and click the top result to open the app.
3. Check the Virtual Machine Platform option.
4. Click the OK button.
5. Click the Restart button.
