  1. BRO ITS AN APLHA RELEASE DONT JUDGE IT LIKE ITS THE FINAL,ur disuading people from using it when actually its decent.not perfect but its decent

  2. Epoch 1 has not been released yet. What you see is a public alpha for experienced testers to get early access to report issues on GitHub. The general public should at least wait for the beta. There will not be any QA reviews during the alpha.

  3. Extension Manager doesn't work because this is not based on GNOME. Gparted doesn't start because it's needs an X display. Perhaps launching apps with Xwayland is not implemented yet. Although they've been developing it for two years and this is how much they can show for it. It doesn't inspire much confidence that COSMIC will be complete any time soon.

  4. it's not ready, because its Epoch 1 – ALPHA 1!

"As the first alpha version of COSMIC Epoch 1, it is incomplete. You’ll most certainly find bugs. Testing and bug reports are welcome and appreciated. New feature requests will be considered for Epoch 2, COSMIC’s second release."

With that said, and being aware of, its already a usable distro, if we shrug the ALPHA(!) bugs aside. Yesterday I used COSMIC from live usb, and it was already a pretty good experience imho. Better than MX Linux which is a "finalized" distro… If we take this into consideration, of alpha is already a good experience, imagine what it will be when it finally gets released!!

  5. Yea guessing he doesn't know its alpha, not one time he said anything about it being alpha. Reviews like this make dev's not want to release alpha releases…. Top of the website where you DL it "As the first alpha version of COSMIC Epoch 1, it is incomplete. You’ll most certainly find bugs." Do better not to throw people under the bus because you missed info about its state on the download page.

  6. Wow! Sorry but you couldn't be more wrong. It'a an Alpha. With that in mind I think it's amazing. I am not a PopOS fan/user from before. I use NIXOS, Arch and debian. The level of functions and features already is impressive.

  7. The devs already responded to the higher ram usage and said that it is high because not used ram is wasted ram (caches as much as it can to make it snappy). Also, I dont think Gnome extensions are supposed to work. The desktop is not based on gnome so there is no expectation that they will work.

  8. The whole point of the alpha is to let people play with Cosmic (which isn't gnome which probably explains the extension problems) with the huge disclaimer of "As the first alpha version of COSMIC Epoch 1, it is incomplete. You’ll most certainly find bugs." I'm kind of confused how anyone would think an alpha would be ready for use as a daily driver (though there are brave souls using it as a daily driver).

  9. Hi NovaspiritTech, hope you are recovering well. Don't mind the 'enthusiasts' voicing their opinions. I see it everywhere, in software forums and stuff, it's toxic. They are too aggressive. Everybody has a right to voice their opinions, I just wish there was more civility in disagreeing and less taunting. Stay positive.
