  1. Why are you switching between cameras like you have adhd and you can't sit still? Don't do that, it's distracting. And don't do the similar side view that people do for the same reason…

  2. Hi, love your videos! was hyprland setup on a vm for this by any chance? and if so, what do you use for your vm's because I've had performance issues (unusable levels) when trying hyprland on a vm. I was trying with latest version of vmware workstation pro on a windows 11 host as that's what I'm restricted to in the particular environment I want to use hyprland in. I know you use Arch (as do I on other systems, btw) so I'm guessing you are using a type 2 hypervisor on arch, but figured I would ask anyway. Thanks!

  3. I rarely click on click-baitey vids… this is one of the examples why. So what's so great about Hyprland, other than it works with Wayland (like some other tiling WMs, BTW)? Why do we NEED to try it RIGHT NOW?

  4. hi typecraft, at first hyprland is a nice tiling window manager, i like it, but;
all the warnings, errors, which a new user became aren't nice… especially those at i.e by 17:44! It's not funny at all this warnings and errors… How do you manage this, how could we all users manage this?
The second, at here 19:24, you don't need download this config file, if you are installed waybar on arch!
The files, those you need to copy in your .config/waybar are in /etc/xdg/waybar and are named as config.jsonc or if you need the style.css too, then style.css!
Copy this files in your .config/waybar directory, configure it and this is all! The config.jsonc is exact that file you've downloaded from github! You can then rename it as config, if you wish…

  5. I just spent the last week configuring i3 after starting with your other video πŸ™
I think i will stick to it. The thing that bothers me the most is that I have a 4k laptop and plugging in a second 1080p monitor makes the second screen 10x zoomed in and unusable.
If thats fixed i would consider switching as i spent days trying to fix this on i3 and basically gave up and stopped using my monitor

  6. when is the new vid? I am not starting on getting all of this setup because i want to get a fully working thing in one go. Just wanted to let you know that I am really waiting for the new video

  7. Im currently using hyprland for months now, and Im currently changing to Sway, let me explain, hyprland its a fantastic WM for daily use, it works flawless, but, in the moment you start using most sofisticated apps, then you have the problem, for me, the application that exhausted my patience was unreal engine 5, it simply didnt work properly, its a very talked problem in the hyprland issue github with a lot of people trying solutions, some people fix it, some didnt, in the first the dev try to help us, they are great, but at the end and for now, he ignore the problem, and its okay, hyprland its a new project that gain a lot of popularity really fast, they have bigger issues with most common and popular apps for dedicate more time to niche apps.

But for me, as full time programer and game developer as hobby, I simply can do not afford another week fixing problems with my daily tools, because UE5 itsnt the only with problems that waste weeks for searching how to fix it, a lot of xaplication that uses xwayland have a lot of problems or are directly broken, and its not only because xwayland, in Sway, that use xwayland too, the majority of my actual problems didnt exist, and its not because one its better than other, simply Sway has more years of development and lot of experience gained with i3, at first they probably have the same problems that are currently in Hyprland.

Im keeping an eye on hyprland, because i really like the project, if you do not use niche apps, give it a try, you probably enjoy it, but for me is a nono, i work with this pc, i need functionality above aesthetics, and Sway its not that ugly with a little of ricing hehe.

And if you want a fast and nice ricing, hyprdots are the way, i didnt have any problems related with it and looks espectacular. Its fully custom by a set of txt and questions via terminal.

    Peace.

  8. What's up with the subliminal 666 flashing in every transition? Is that deliberate or is it meant to be something else and I just grew up watching too many Omen movies?

  9. Tiling managers + productivity in the same sentence…… Nothing productive about people who sit there for hours, days even, fine tuning their config files. Anyone who tells me how much time they spent configuring their neovim or hyprland environments never get hired because they are too vain, it would be like hiring the Barbie-doll of the tech world.

To be productive, you open the required app you need, probably in maximized/full screen mode to remove all other distractions and you just crack on with the work. It doesn't matter if you are in VScode or Vim, Firefox or Lynx, just know your tools inside out and know how to focus on the task at hand. I don't want people worrying if they hotkey is optimal or not, or each month they spend hours changing their environment because of ricing-envy they got from a youtube/reddit post.
BTW – I have hyprland installed but the novelty has worn off and it doesn't compare to PaperWM setup (on single screen at least). Hyprland is more productive in scrolling tiles plugins.

  11. I'm not a big fan of multicam videos, especially at the rate they tend to cut between different cams. But at the very least, THANK YOU for turning to face the camera each time.

There's something uniquely obnoxious about people who talk at something off in the distance while the camera jumps around them. And you don't do that. So that's a big point in your favor.
