I have it running on a mid 2007 7,1. Keeps the old thing useful, because no modern browser etc will run on the last OS it will run, Catalina. Mint will run Brave no problem, and I can use the old thing on my electronics repair hobby desk.
I'm wondering if it will run on PowerPC. Got a G5 here.
That's nothing. I am running this distro on old Asus f5rl series, that had Vista running on it. I think I had it around 2008 or so. It broke one hinge, I replaced it just a couple months ago, got upgraded RAM, new ssd sata hard drive, cleaned and repasted… it runs quietely and well. I wish I did it sooner. I had it on ebay for years for spare parts, nobody wanted it. Their loss! 😂.It even burned its own Wilma installation dvd haha.
i have actually installed Linix Mint 22 on a 2007 AMD 690G based system!
I recently installed Mint on a 2012 Dell Optiplex. Mint saw all the hardware, including the GPU, and it runs great.
I run latest Linux Mint on a 2010 iMac 24" and on a MacBookPro (late 2008). Everything works fine! (even the iSight camera on the MacBookPro!)
