  1. Loved the video! I'm a hardware guy, and I'm just letting you know that there's no point in updating BIOS unless there's a new functionality you want. Generally, with BIOS, if it isn't broken don't try to fix it. If power goes out or anything during the update, your board is borked.

  2. Space Cadet Pinball originally was available for Windows 95. I think I first played it when I upgraded my computer to Windows 98. Once I found it, I was hooked. XP was the last Windows version where it was available.

  3. It's wild just how many great apps are made using LibAdweita. also they're planning on porting GTK to android, so all those android lovers can maybe have some of your favorite GTK apps on android, especially cool since a lot of GTK apps work well on phones because of phosh.
one of my favorite GTK apps that I'm dissapointed I can't use on my mac or windows PC is Shortwave. it's an internet radio browser. simply a lovely app I want on everything.

  4. CUP-X is a nice CPU-Z clone. It also has a ncurses TUI with the -N flag.
"Disk Analyzer" is actually called baobab and has fallen victim to GNOMEs bad habit of giving programs super-generic names.
Space Cadet it a blast from the past. I actually spun up an XP VM once just to play it for a little while. It's great to see it being available for Linux now.

  5. I love these kinds of videos, thank you! Some applications worth mentioning are Bottles, to run Windows applications in a containerised environment. Furthermore, Flatseal and Warehouse to manage Flatpaks! I've recently moved my entire workflow from Windows to Linux (openSUSE Tumbleweed), and I came across these applications which helped me a ton.

  6. The Disk Analyzer is available in GNOME and included by default. Not sure if it's 100% the same app, but looks the same.
The Errands to-do app is also not necessary on GNOME, since the GNOME system calendar has great integration with Evolution – which is not just a mail app, but also has very very good calendar / to-do list capabilities AND on top of that can be easily used with Google Calendar and probably Nextcloud (haven't tested the latter, since I don't have Nextcloud, but there are no reasons it won't work, since GNOME has Nextcloud integration capability by default).

  7. great idea for a video topic! there are so many open source projects at this point, it can be hard to know what to get into!

I would say another good disk analyzer to check out is qdirstat (same as "windirstat" on windows). It's really good for visualizing an entire disk at a glance. you will find that 20 GB file that you thought you deleted! πŸ˜›

I would also mention a couple of really good graphics programs that are maybe not as well known as some others. One is Krita (which is a full graphics program) and the other is MyPaint (which is just painting,) it reallly helps to focus on making art.

  8. My best score in Space Cadet Pinball as a kid was a bit over 30mil. Nowadays I struggle to even go above 5mil.

Edit: Btw, it was in Win95. My memory is fuzzy now, but I don't think the game was in XP. Could be wrong though.

  9. I love crosswords, been doing them since I was a kid. My mom who passed recently, she always had a crossword and/or a circle word book sitting on the table next to her chair.
