It was the perfect good old ‘divide and rule’ strategy: it proved super useful in showing the long-hated Jews the way out of Europe, and sending them straight into a never-ending war with the Muslims. Islam was that younger and annoying sister religion who had similar aspirations for global domination, so getting it bogged down in a fight with the Jews allowed the Christians to just sell arms to both sides, condescendingly condemn them for mutual atrocities, and giggle.
2:19 𝐏𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐧: the emerging national consciousness of the local Arabs, who got angry the 1917 promise of the British to give Palestine to the Jews, who were then just 10% of the ~700,000 population of Palestine. They got more angry (and belligerent) as the British allowed the continued influx of Jewish migrants, whose number doubled 10 times over the next 30 years from just ~60,000 to ~600,000. In the same period, the Arab population doubled from ~600,000 to ~1.2 million, mainly due to high fertility rates.
