  1. It's in the air all year long around this area, people burn it in their woodburners, I can smell it in my house everytime my heater runs, I have chronic migraines and grand mal seizures, my grandfather and others in my neighborhood died of lung cancer, my mom has copd

  2. The cost to the workers and the planet far exceeds what it would cost to support every current coal mine worker. We refuse to abandon coal because the coal companies give millions to politicians to keep it alive. If the human and environmental costs of coal was added to its price, nobody would use it, because it would be the most expensive form of energy anywhere.

  4. I didn't want to watch something depressing on a Sunday morning. But 'glad (for the lack of better wording) that I did because of Kevin and his story. "Look at stuff different … live for instead of just yourself (stuff) … when my son was born (was the difference)"; reason for life. This which too many in big business, politics don't comprehend even though they're representing us all, influencing boundaries for our society. Even though we have choice, even as we have choice, God bless him, his family and all others involved.

  5. The same with most blue collar work. Best way to prevent this is with respiratory protection and disinfectant practices like firefighters do. Firefighters wash their gear and given oxygen masks. Coal miners need the same.
