XPlane 12: Opentrack with Neutraltracker Linux – DEB Installer (Download) [ENGLISH]

Since it is rather inconvenient to have to rely on a Windows program (AITrack) for head tracking with Opentrack under Linux, which also increases potential error sources, I have spent some time figuring out how to integrate the so-called “Neuralnet-Tracker” into Opentrack.

With the Neuralnet-Tracker, it is possible to forgo AITrack and use a connected webcam directly with Opentrack for head tracking.

Unfortunately, for most distributions, there is neither Opentrack nor the integration of the Neuralnet-Tracker as an easy-to-install package, which is why I decided to build an installable DEB package (link below).

Installation

Download:

The package can be installed after downloading via the console using the command dpkg -i.

During the initial installation, dependencies are likely to be missing. This will cause an error during the installation.

The problem can be easily fixed with the command:

sudo apt-get -f install

After that, the installation of the DEB package needs to be repeated.

*My Tests*

I have now tested the DEB package on several distributions (KDE & Gnome).

My package runs (tested) on:

Debian 12
Ubuntu 24.04
Linux Mint Debian Edition 6
Linux Mint 22 (BETA)
Siduction “Standing on the shoulders of giants”

*NOTE*
Wine needs to be installed.

If you encounter any problems, please let me know in the comments.

*Links, Sources, Directories*

*Onnxruntime – Library:*

*Opentrack GIT Repository:*

git clone

*Directories*

Opentrack will be installed in the folder /opt/opentrack. The libraries for onnxruntime will be copied to the directory /usr/lib/onnxruntime

The file onnx.conf will be placed in the folder /etc/ld.so.conf.d and will reference the necessary libraries for starting Opentrack with the Neuralnet Tracker.

Activate XPlane 12 Plugin
