i use windows 11 and 10 respectively everyday for work and personal use, and i kind of like that they're not that different. also, you get used to the shittyness after a while.
windows 11 is… a mixed bag. i can set it up (and have) to look like win 10 though so thats good. on the other hand, i used a controller for gaming. its xbox series s i think. sometimes when i been using it and shut down windows 11 (not 10) there is a memory violation requestor window pops up. it says window couldnt access memory at a range well outside normal ram ranges. win 11 still shuts down, but when this comes up during it, the reliability monitor shows windows as not having shut down properly. this happens most of but not all the time a controller is turned on and used and is still turned on when you shut windows down, but while ms knows about the bug they seem confused how to solve it when it doesnt happen more than 70-80% of the time. and that sums up a lot about win 11. of course win 10 was supposed to never need replacing so as to limit needing teams for multiple windows. that sounded like a good idea, so why did they then make win 11? i can only assume its the hardware requirements for win 11 which they couldnt backport with a win 10 upgrade on many machines because they didnt have that hardware.
Recent fuckups with Windows Copilot and them breaking WSL in one of the recent updates were the straw that broke the camel's back for me with Windows 11 and made me move to Linux. Obviously not going to happen to you, Matto, because of GTA stuff, but yeah. I'm now in control of my system, ain't no Bill gonna tell me what I'll run on my computer!

I would seriously suggest using Linux, to show Microsoft their way of developing Windows is not even accepted by people that would have the knowledge to debloat and customize with 3rd party tools, but as Rockstar added BattlEye, and did not activate Linux support, which would be one email, GTA Online does not work anymore. Previously, all games you played, as far as I know, would work flawlessly on Linux (eg. RDR2/RDROnline, Minecraft, Hitman), as well as any mods.

I never thought indepth about the differences between 10 and 11 since most of the functionality never changed for me. I guess if you use it for work it may fuck with you but if you just game and browse the net then 10 and 11 aren't really that much different.
Wins 11 genuinely drives me insane, every single thing is a problem and it somehow breaks everything. Then when I look up how to fix it, all the information is useless and from Microsoft help themselves they give the same copied and pasted responses: “Restart your PC” or the dumbest one, “FACTORY RESET YOUR ENTIRE PC!” (Literally said this for the smallest issue). I never had problems like this before back on Wins 7, they give u such little control like they don’t let u disable things properly (U have to go into regedit or run some script a guy made), they put unnecessary worse verisons of a settings page before the real settings page, they have basic things turned off on default for no reason (Why is seeing the file type off by default??), and they make it seem like u dont OWN ur pc, they locked me out of Wins Security the other day because of the “IT Administrator”, I OWN THIS PC IM LOGGED IN ON MY ACCOUNT AND IT SAYS IM A ADMINISTRATOR. Anyways it’s gotten so bad after so many years, I might finally bite the bullet and use Linux. But the problem is Linux doesn’t work with everything apparently even with the many workarounds and I don’t want to end up dualbooting with Windows and having to use that for half of the stuff I do; gaming, editing, music production, etc. (This is before I even watch the video, I just had to rant how much I despise Windows)

Hi Matt, I know as a content creator Linux isn’t for you (fuck adobe) and I know that since the newest update GTA Online doesn’t work on it. But how about a shout out from you anyway? I think there are enough viewers who don’t own GTA V or only play the singleplayer or who can’t upgrade to Windows 11 because of the TPM Chip when Windows 10 hits end of life in a year. Just bringing their attention to the option of another OS could help them. It is a popular option in India because it’s free and has low system requirements. It has come a long way in regards to user friendliness and because of valves proton compatibility layer most of the games on steam work just fine (except for the ones with kernel level anticheat). I think it fits in with your rant and dissatisfaction of windows. I know you only talk about things your are at least somewhat knowledgeable in, so just talking about what you heard about Linux and recommending looking further into this topic to anyone interested is enough. The more people use Linux the less game developers can ignore us, a shout out from you would mean a lot to me.

This entire Windows 11 segment is why I swapped to Linux. Windows 11 somehow felt worse then when it released, and Microsoft's push for AI and less privacy also made me just say nah, I am leaving.

My laptop came with Windows 11 preinstaled. I inmediately downgraded it to Windows 10.
