Why do people indulge in conspiracy theories?│Michael Shermer (Skeptic magazine, Founding Publisher)
Conspiracy theories are often mentioned when something that may become a social issue occurs. This year, the year of the global election, was also covered by a number of conspiracy theories around the world. It’s a groundless story, but many people believe and spread it. Words that have spread like that can sometimes be dull as true. The problem is that these conspiracy theories affect not only the person involved in the incident but also society as a whole. Michael Shermer, an American science writer and scientific skeptic, has been at the forefront of the skepticism movement, working with Jared Diamond and Richard Dawkins to find out what the truth is against pseudo-science, creationism, superstition, and conspiracy theories. In this session, he, the publisher and editor of the Skeptical Science Journal Skeptic, will explain why people easily fall into conspiracy theories.

Strange how nobody is interested in exactly how the entire human species was made to become addicted to 'mobile devices' within a span of less than two decades. Maybe when everybody falls for such an obvious and incalculably destructive conspiracy, nobody wants to take an interest in how thoroughly they have been had, or by whom.
1. Experience has taught us that the official position is usually a pack of lies.
2. Experience has taught us that the crackpot theory is often true.
"indulge" is a stupid wording
Depends on the theory. Lizzard people? No.
So why isn't Zionism considered an antisemitic conspiracy theory?
Loose sloppy generalizations dominate our theorys as above economics dictate our inflationary beliefs so below taxonomical ruled faith over facts.
Our sciences are no different, strong identifiers center & topographical empty package around the bacon of realism with a trash can of a new set theory frame of reference go/nogo of generalized realitive reality reference redifined measure of time as a distance.. do it biology where strong identifiers exits 1 to 1 word definition when spoken you teach yet most invoke evolution leaving pupils to fill in the missing links god of gaps. These are weaponized all the time as they conspire for wealth, demand of products like = to boost & stimulate natural immunity, 1 2 3 , object interaction mutate. Yet these are banned in usa cause it's cheap entrapenerhip yet moved demand over to hands of a few patented hi end lab equipment only few can produce & control.
#1 time & place application community merit standing upon its own measure and string identifiers are eroded at every avenue & walk of life.
1890s usa was more ready to move over into online coops than we are today over this.
Simple. People do not trust politicians and their government anymore. In this day and age, you are stupid if you believe politicians and the news media! 😂😂😂
THE TERM 'CONSPIRACY THEORY' ISELF IS A CONSPIRACY THEORY
The better question is why are leftists so obsessed with labeling every common sense observation a "Conspiracy Theory?"
Why was it deemed necessary to coin such an awful phrase?
Either the theory is true or it isn't.
If the "conspiracy theory" is false, if there are no secret, nefarious, malevolent groups/ppl behind the scenes, pulling the strings behind world events, then everything is ok, the theorists theories are begnign & harmless & there's nothing to worry about.
So, instead of coining slanderous terms, you have a life to get on with, so get to it.
However, if the theories are true, if there ARE nefarious, malevolent ppl/groups & systems at play behind world events (aka 'Big Brother' of Orwell's "1984"), then nothing is ok, everyone is in imminent danger & we all have a massive problem on our hands.
So, now humanity has a common enemy & there is no time to waste coining fake phrases as the term "conspiracy theory" itself becomes a conspiracy theory.
So either way, the "conspiracy theory/theorist" narrative/argument is an extremely feeble one at best & is but divisive & sinister propaganda at worst.
Either way, the "conspiracy theory" argument is a waste of both time & words.
