RUFUS 4.6 beta allows the upgrade to win11 24H2 from windows 10, I just installed it.

The FX-6300 isn't a triple-core CPU, it's a hexacore CPU (6 core), it's just that each pair of cores shares resources between them. I know Windows now regards it as 3c/6t, but I remember when Windows recognized it as an actual 6-core.

If M$ decided to withold security updates if you are running on unsupported hardware, I think the EU would soon make them see sense!
Windows 11 hardware requirements are TOTALLY ARTIFICIAL!
Maybe this is due to some collusion between M$, Intel and AMD to push new hardware sales to make up for the slump during COVID lockdowns!
Minimum supported: 64-bit, 1+ GHz, 2+ cores CPU, 4 GB RAM, 64 GB storage !
My 12-year-old E5-2697-v2 (12 core HT) 2.7 (3.5) GHz, 64 GB DDR3, 4 x 240 GB SATA3 SSDs RAID0 is EASILY good enough!

I am about to install Windows 11 on a 4th gen Haswell Intel Desktop through a clean install.
And Upgrade a 2nd gen Sandy Bridge Laptop that currently runs Windows 10
I can confirm that 4th gen Haswell supports UEFI but I don't think that 2nd gen does .
So do I have to create two separate USBs to install Windows 11 on these two computers (one with MBR and the other with GPT) ?
Or if I create just one USB with MBR it can boot in both UEFI and BIOS legacy mode ?
So far I have used a single USB with Windows 10 created by the official Media Creation Tool from Microsoft and works fine on both systems but never have tried installing Windows 11.
In a nutshell the MBR option in Rufus supports both UEFI and BIOS legacy mode ?
I really wish more people would watch these videos, since this could help avoid so much unnecessary ewaste! Just curious, have you tested the automated method in this video on 24H2? I've used this on a couple of PCs (supported and unsupported) and would love to be able to keep using it.

I tried to do clean install unupported virtual box. It's freezing on boot splesh after frist stage of install. Extracting files is ok but after restart "that's all folks!"

hi your one line command, you tell us to use it with the download iso on the desktop, but that iso is the original (not modified one with rufus ) , is it right ? if i use that one i will get safe_os stop at that phase

Followed you Instructions to the tee, ran a Upgrade on a unsupported laptop, during Install (which took ages) it checked for Updates, I was unable to go any further Unless I signed in,, even renamed Utilman.exe as Cmd.exe, to use Ipconfig release (but that's been patched)
and non of the work arounds had any affect. Any ideas?

If you did install in MBR, it's easy to do an MBR3GPT conversion in windows 10;
it's built in. and I assume it's built into windows 11 also. So installing in MBR is never really an issue.

To anyone who sees the keep files settings option is not selectable it is purely because of the installed language if you get this far. I am in Australia and checked my installed language which was EN AU. I tried to upgrade using the server method USING THE US ISO which wouldn't let me select keep evrrything. IF YOU ARE USING ENGLISH ON YOUR PC AND YOUR LANGUAGE DOESN'T SAY ENGLISH US YOU NEED TO USE ENGLISH INTERNATIONAL. This worked seamlessly for me. Many thanks Rich ๐
I get to Rufus but when I hit select it doesn't let me navigate to the iso file. Not sure where to go from there.
