Updating Arch Linux after 1 year without updates
After 1 year of sitting dormant, I spin up a VM I created to test if Arch would survive the update process. Went better than expected.

God-Damn shitty Linux. Look at all the bullshit you gotta go through just to update the system. ABSOLUTE FUCKING NIGHTMARE my Windows updates in 3-5 minutes!
Arch users often echo "works on my machine," but computers should facilitate, not hinder. Arch requires more maintenance than a heavily tweaked W10 IoT installation. Sure, call it a skill issue, but I don't want to spend 30 to 45 minutes every few days tweaking or updating on a weekly schedule when I just want my computer to function reliably. It's baffling how some defend this like a religion, much like the Rust evangelicals…
You know what they say: "Something is in the water in the DMV."
Why do you make and 45 minutes long video at 2:45?
Couldn't you just use the "pacman-mirrors" command?
Edit: I just found out this only works in Manjaro
That's why fedora is the genius but unloved middle child. It's more frequently updated then ubuntu, and easier to update than arch…. except when it isn't, but we don't talk about that. Also, RHEL8 is fucking amazing in terms of stability. Can't go wrong with it
Skill issue
3 years in and i haven't had an issue. other than one time on a machine that i setup with archinstall (of course).
how many email accounts are best to have for security purposes?
I update my arch packages every few months, never had any problems. Sometimes I just need to reinitiate the keyring or follow manual intervention instructions on the website.
This does make me appreciate Fedora more.
Hey, Thanks for the content!
How do you make a video like that?
