Just starting out so forgive for speaking outing of turn as I never played the game. Just watched the tyranid section and I assume you doing something similar for each army. There is always going to be pain in the bum units. At the same time nerf a few units and what do the tyranids have for anti tank like the tyranfex? Outside melee range? Sometimes you just have let the opposition have some good pieces for it to be a functional game. Anything stupidly overpowered that is cheap as chips to use. should be the main concern. That is my 10 pence worth. Cheers for the input and videos.
I pay 185 (Calgar) for my CP generator⦠Azrael is cheaper⦠no wonder everyone takes Dark Angles⦠Grots are 40 and 50% chance to generate CP
Any chance of a deep-dive into terrain, ruins and visibility? Because there seems to be huge confusion over this
All im saying is some tournament guy running 5 crusader bricks doesnt have 5hit to do with me running 1 or 2 bricks. Not oaying 320 plus an over priced character for each… do the math thats insane. T4 2 wound chainswords give me a phucking break.
thanks guys great chat
I think that the concept that the non-codex compliant chapters have access to the regular codex chapters 'breaks the game' is a falacy. First of all this limits balance to the realm of competitive play, disregarding the potential other ways that players might want to interact with the product. Secondly there's still the case of Ultramarines. Just because they're considered 'vanilla' doesn't mean that they don't contribute equally to skewing potential tournament metas. Basically it comes down to how invested you are to the fluff of your Space Marine army and their colour scheme. If you're fine in calling your smurfs DA then no one's going to stop you. Also remember that the only player you actually hurt with putting up strict restrictions on use of detachement today would be the hardcore players who pick the army for fluff reasons. They still might want to play a storm lance/gladius with one squad of Thunderwolf cav or Deathwing Knights but not be interested in spamming either. I think that adjusting some points cost dependent on the detachment that uses them will probably be the most realistic way of dealing with any balance issues, but sees it as unlikely to happen considering the effort to streamline and codify written rules. The next solution could be to limit chapter specific units to one if using a codex compliant detachment. Of course in that case the same should apply to Ultramarines.
Strong disagree on taking gladius away from dark angels. We have to play other detachments because all dark angel specific ones are garbage
The agents immolatior is Ordo hereticus models so you canβt put reg battle sisters in in your army is sisters
If I play ravenwing itβs in stormlanceβ¦. So Sam is just useless as stormlance does what he doesβ¦
Iβd take command squads maybe but not as leaders just extra mounted stuffβ¦.
Iβd take 2 big blocks of black knights with chaplains on bike to lead and give their shooting devs and their melee +1 to wound itβs ap2 damage 1 and is not too bad itβs power weapons but still itβs nice
Venetari right now make the vertus praetor entirely obsolete as venetari are infantry and can go through walls
Being mounted the bikes also suffer from the rotation penalties so the move is actually worse
Plus vertus have much worse abilities
As a brand new 40k player not interested in tournament plays, do I have to worry about constant balance updates and errata? Seems to make it quite a bit harder to get into the game and learning core and faction rules.
The constant buffing and nerfing of space marines to get you to buy new models is a real turn off for me. I feel like a lab rat in a maze. Anyone want to buy a fully painted 2000 point Ultramarine army.
200pts for extra cp
Eldar and CSM player here: I don't know if cheapening the Five Man Wraithguard/Blade squads will make much of a difference because they hit on 4+. It's still more efficient in my mind to run the 10 Brick because of the Spiritseer tax.
Now I do think we'll see more Fire Prisms and Falcons in Eldar Lists.
For my CSM Dread Talons, still gonna run 10 Warp Talons because of weight of dice and the vanish rule will affect the survivors. 20 attacks with a 5 man may kill a few marines, but not the squad.
Best visuals for the points discussions. Well done
Do not bring back the force org. It would kill my Crusher Stampede Nids that I love to play. I love being able to use all my models it's about the only thing in 10th besides the Characters leading units.
1:21:27 It's not unfair at all. Every faction has to wait for their codex. World Eaters and IG had like 6 months of an actual faction last edition. If you want fair, ditch the whole idea of codexes, have everyone start with 2 unique detachments and give everyone at once a new one every 6 months or so.
I completely agree with the notion off buffing underperforming units in overperforming armies. I've played Eldar since 3rd ed. This edition has been a mostly disappointing ride so far of my main faction being too powerful for a large part of it, which isn't fun in and of itself, but has had some awful units from the very start that only now are getting some love and inching closer to a point (often not even on it still) of looking somewhat viable. The feeling of having an ever shrinking army of the same units on the table, and constantly feeling punished for taking the stuff that works, blows. And then having all that to a backdrop of a very vocal minority of the playerbase constantly blaming the players for GW's mistakes. The amount of "Eldar always OP. Eldar deserve to suck. Eldar need to be nerfed into the ground." even well after they dropped into, and down to, the lower end of the balance goldilock zone "because you had a 70% winrate for a month or 2" has been pretty darn awful.
Warlock conclaves are probably still not good enough after this buff, neither are corsairs, neither are shining spears I fear. They didn't even touch Dire Avengers, who have been some of the worst units in the index all across the 14-15 months we've been in this edition. I hope these will get some rules changes in the codex, as I don't think just points drops will suffice. It's good to see GW finally addressing these, but they honestly should have already done so 7-8 months ago when the faction was hovering around a 50-53% winrate.
For the custodes I think the changes are quite nice I found my self using none of my enhancements I just didnβt have the points now I can finally start tinkering with them
do you feel that the rule of 3/6 should be 2/4, then? I'm only up to the templars, but that seems like it would fix a lot of what you are saying.
If that one black templar list was so powerful wouldnt it dominate the meta? It won one big tournament,
I like the changed to the BT specific non named characters. You mentioned the MSU price didnt change for primaris crusaders but they went up 10 and that part I could have done without. That makes assault intercessors a better choice now IMO
Imotekh is 100 and that's about all he does is give command point so that seems about right lol. Also appreciate listing the point changes on the side, keep that. Rock on guys
I would rather Angron drop 100+ pts and lose the Rez mechanic.
GW please limit Dark Angels to their own detachments, so you stop messing with other lists.
Codex marines are treated as trash whole 10 edition. This is depressing to me as wargammer and hobbist, were getting hammered and hammered again and again due to F******g dark angels and blood angels and black templars.
Fellhammer Siege Host just got a massive buff – Iron Within!
if GW was smart they'd just lower everything 50%. they'd double sales n some
