Day 1 of The Flying Scotsman vintage car rally – organised by HERO-ERA – was a sunny if slightly breezy affair, certainly for us spectating at Oulton Park where the rally/drift course in the infield area was put to good use.
The 2024 Flying Scotsman rally was a three-day event, the two stages held at Oulton Park occurring on day one, just a short hop from the start point an hour or so earlier. After leaving Oulton the cars headed north before rounding out their trip a couple of days later in Scotland.
Virtually all of the classic cars competing in the Flying Scotsman 2024 were of pre-war origin, with just a few youngsters built in the 1940s joining the fray.
A real mixture of pre-war and vintage cars were seen stretching their legs, including example(s) of the following:
