The vision element someone gets isn't really because of their passions. I mean, have you forgotten about Noelle? XD In all seriousness, getting a vision and its element moreof depends on a situation or event in their life, like a burning passion (literally, because that is how you get a Pyro[Fire] Vision), a realization, or even just pure convenience.
