Visual assessment of shaft 11 in Stilfontein has started.
Emergency personnel are using a crane to lower the camera which will assist in evaluating and assessing the integrity of the shaft and related risks – as well as to confirm the number of illegal miners underground as well as their condition.
The process to retrieve them is expected to start on Monday.
