Stilfontein Mine | First phase of the retrieval operation for illegal miners gets under way

The task team led by Northwest Community Safety MEC Wessels Morweng has begun the first phase of the retrieval operation to bring illegal miners to the surface in a Stilfontein mine in North West.

Its been days of a stand-off at the abandoned mine, where the so-called zama-zamas are refusing the emerge.

Yesterday, the retrieval team assessed the shaft with apparent plans to bring up the illegal miners in large numbers.
