Step by Step Procedure on How to Install ParrotOS in VMWare



To install ParrotOS on VMware Workstation Pro 17, follow these steps:

1. Download VMware Workstation Pro 17:
Visit the VMware website at
Click on the “Download Now” button for the Workstation Pro 17 version compatible with your operating system (Windows or Linux).

2. Install VMware Workstation Pro 17:
Run the downloaded installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install VMware Workstation Pro 17.

3. Download ParrotOS:
Visit the ParrotOS website at
Scroll down to the “Virtual Machine” section.
Click on the “Download Parrot Security VM” button to download the Parrot Security VM for VMware.

4. Create a New Virtual Machine:
Open VMware Workstation Pro 17.
Click on “File”, “New Virtual Machine” to start the New Virtual Machine Wizard.

5. Select the Installation Method:
Choose “Installer disc image file (iso)”.
Click “Browse” and select the Parrot Security VM ISO file you downloaded.

6. Select the Guest Operating System:
Choose “Linux” as the guest operating system.
For version, select “Debian 10.x 64-bit” (ParrotOS is based on Debian).

7. Specify Virtual Machine Name and Location:
Enter a name for your virtual machine (e.g., ParrotOS).
Choose a location to store the virtual machine files.

8. Specify Disk Capacity:
Choose the disk size for the virtual machine (e.g., 20 GB).
Select “Store virtual disk as a single file” for better performance.

9. Customize Hardware:
Click “Customize Hardware” to configure the virtual machine settings.
Adjust the number of processors and memory as needed for your system.
Add or remove hardware components as needed.

10. Finish and Install ParrotOS:
Click “Finish” to create the virtual machine.
Start the virtual machine to begin the ParrotOS installation process.
Follow the on-screen instructions to install ParrotOS on the virtual machine.

12. Complete the Installation:
Once the installation is complete, restart the virtual machine.
Log in to ParrotOS using the credentials you created during the installation process.

13. Install VMware Tools (Optional):
In the VMware Workstation Pro menu, go to “VM”, “Install VMware Tools”.
Follow the on-screen instructions to install VMware Tools in ParrotOS for better integration and performance.
