The Sony PlayStation Portal is a really, really strange handheld but is it completely useless if it’s not connected to your PS5?

  1. It should have been a cloud gaming service where you didn't have to connect to a ps5 to play games and it was an optional feature to connect to ps5. Sony Let us down 😪😪

  2. PSP already supported PS3 Remote Play. Vita supported PS3 Remote Play from the get go, and later had PS4 Remote Play. This is essentially an overpriced dedicated Remote Play device that's not even OLED. Doesn't look like it's compatible with the PS4, either.

  3. This is marketed as an assessory for the PS5 and not intended as a stand alone console. It's not for everyone. It's the official most authentic way to play your PS5 remotely in portable fashion. It's not perfect, but it is clearly labeled if people do just the minimal amount of research.

  4. Kinda lame that it

    A) doesn’t let you directly stream PS Plus games even though that’s a feature of the service

    B) forces you to connect to PS5 through wifi instead of direct wireless connection like the PS3/PS4 remote play
