  1. Thank you, as always, for the video.

I've used Cakewalk for years and years. Just before it was sold, I bought the lifetime license (great timing). At that point, I should have moved on, but when Bandlab took over and did it's thing, I stayed. But now . . . I am just not a fan of subscriptions. And this just doesn't seem that much of an update to warrant it. This is all frustrating.

  2. XEL, the amount of work you have put into CbB is more than I will ever learn or even need to learn. It's a brilliant volume of work.
Do people REALLY think that a latest version of any modern DAW sequencer is holding them back on their road to fame and fortune?
Some of the comments on here just make me laugh.

  3. Ya'll crazy why would you want a perpetual license, $12.46 p/m is cheap and your not tied to them, you can leave and come back
anytime and if you love the daw just pay $149 per year and get all the other stuff they offer, hell even distribution and a fan page and sync opportunities etc,
    you people are tripping

  4. I have subscribed, but, honestly, I see no benefits right now to the free cakewalk. sometimes I open projects in my cakewalk and there is nothing I would miss. Clearly for the User who is not into the deep midi stuff I see no need to go to the paid version…And as a pro musician who is always on the edge its good to know that I still can use cakewalb, when money is short and I rather get my fridge stuffed than Sonar running 😉

  5. This look like junk I'm going to keep what I have, That going back to 2000 when the original company started making the program. the new owner is the son of a Billionaire who once said the program will be free now he want to charge for everything after there is so much already out there for as plugins both.
back from the beginning they didn't do this, they Charge for only upgrade of the program and each time there was instruments and effects added each time until Gibson purchased them and then everything has gone down hill from that point, Now this, This is trash and I have been using SONAR since 1999, I still own everything since 2002

  6. IMO what has hurt CB is the waiting. Because of this many cakewalk users have switched to other DAWS that look and have a modern feel. What is the incentive? Trying to improve on some outdated features does not work for others that have switched. This does not do Sonar Platinum users justice. Adding things like concrete limiter is not new. We already have it as well as the LP EQ and LP MB-On a side note there was a sampler in cakewalk from back in the days- 😀 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7kmXnwKoGU

  7. Hey XEL! well I've moved on to Studio One, uuummm, for the long wait, and for what I have had since the original Sonar, and from what is offer in the market, well I think that this major over all update kinda fell short.

  8. I still dont have a pc yet ,but when i re build my shit im not getting this bs they can keep that 1 out of two or maybe both,i renew my reaper license and i also buy fl studio legit finally 😂

  9. Yeah, NOPE, but I've made that clear from the beginning, I'm happy with Reaper / LUNA Cakewalk, is just too old to modernize enough to sell anymore in my opinion.. under the hood i bet you its pretty bad having existed so long, just naturally how things were done then vs today.. when they took it over i said it'll probably never be a modern paid competitor but it can be a great free option.. but them trying to monetize it in this landscape with so much out that is positioned far better than it is. i honestly don't know what they were thinking but that's irrelevant

  10. I'm disappointed that bandlab has not released sonar as a perpetual license. I'm not going to throw in the towel with sonar just yet. I will wait and see if bandlab release sonar as a perpetual license. if it turns out that bandlab have no plans for sonar as a perpetual license, I will continue to use cakewalk by bandlab for as long as it will work. I also own sonar platinum if i need a backup daw for my currant projects. so if it comes to the crunch and there is no perpetual license for sonar, i will be forced to move onto Cubase

  11. I stick with my working reaper. Not surprised that they go for sub only. Would surprise me if they would do a perpetual licence. These days so many companies going subscription. Even Reason you get more with Reason+ then buying a very expensive perpetual license, studio one,pro tools….so not interested

  12. Brooklyn in the house! Thanks so much for keeping us aware of what's happening with Cakewalk.
I installed the latest update a few days ago but I didn't know about the product center update. One little issue after I updated the product center: When I installed the Cakewalk Studio Instruments, it doesn't change the status to "Up To Date". It stays on "Install" even after I've installed it. All the other products change their status to "Up To Date" after installing. The studio Instruments are installed successfully. Just something to be aware of. Still waiting for them to give us a firm decision on whether or not we are going to get a perpetual license or only stay with the Bandlab membership option. I'm sticking with Cakewalk by Bandlab for now. I think I'm with the majority of users who do not want a subscription based DAW.

  13. So torn and conflicted with the decision. CbB is still very usuable but is beginning to feel a bit tired and dated – yet – Sonar does not look that modern either. Tough choice if you are not now a professional and cannot justify the spend. I would have gone down the constant development route but started years ago to sell plugins and Prochannel plugins specifically for CbB = and made decent money that way. You have a choice just like Luna. Sonar's plugins apart from XSampler, I have – every one. I don't see anything COMPELLING as yet.

  14. Great vid again, sir. Im producing for like 2 months now, on cakewalk. I havent downloaded many plugins for cakewalk yet, but im thinking about buying fl studio (producer edition). Should i do it? Or is it better to just continue on cakewalk for now with some more plugins?
Sorry for my bad english btw 😁
