Reduction of proposed fees to open up the mining sector and attract foreign investors

Stakeholders in the mining sector are calling for a reduction in proposed fees for transfer of mining rights to open up the mining sector and attract foreign investors. Patrick Kanyoro, Chairman of Kenya Chamber of Mines says there have been no activities in the sector since the 2019 moratorium on mining, adding that the better approach is to allow people to get the license and gradually increase the fees as mining activities continue.
