Quantum Linux: Pioneering the Future of Computing | LF Member Summit 2023 | Monterey | Pranav Durai

I’ve always been fascinated by the potential of accelerating AI using quantum machines. In fact, for the past couple of months, I’ve been experimenting with IBM’s Falcon r5.11H (7 qubits) and the legendary Eagle r3 (127 qubits) quantum processors on their dedicated IBM Quantum Platform, and the experience has been nothing short of extraordinary!

The primary objective of this keynote was to showcase the immense capabilities of quantum-accelerated machines and the synergy between quantum hardware and Linux, as an operating system. As the demand for more bare-metal hardware to scale up infrastructure continues to rise, the question now becomes: how much more can you scale up with just classical machines?

The session covers:
– An Introduction to Quantum Mechanics and Computing.
– Current Trends in 2023.
– Why Quantum Computing Matters?
– My Proposal: Quantum Linux, and my vision towards its Internal Architecture Design.
– How to program Quantum Machines?
– Challenges and Open-source Involvement.
