Parenting Fears HYPER EDITED FOR TIME #parenting #fear #anxiety #life

YouTube Shorts dictates that your video has to be under one minute.

I did the best I could to get this down to that length, but man… That means I cut out 28 seconds.

So, if this feels incomplete, that’s why.

The full version is posted on my channel.

They say the Atlanta Child Abductions, the Adam Walsh murder, and the placement of missing kids on milk cartons is what led to helicopter parenting.

A general fear of what could happen to kids when left unattended caused parents to hover over their children at all times, never letting them out of their sight.

It continues to this day; an exceedingly paranoid woman just went viral for saying she wouldn’t return her grocery cart to the corral out of fear someone would snatch her kids in the seconds it took her to be a decent human being.

My wife and I don’t really live in fear; we belong more to the free-range kiddo style of parenting.

90% of the time if you ask us where our kid is, we don’t know.

“Running around somewhere.”

But every so often, we succumb to the fear that hits every parent.

“What if?”

You shouldn’t live your life like the worst case scenario is always happening, but it’s important to be aware that horrific things do happen.

And man, when those thoughts creep into your head?

They freak you the F out.

Anyway, bonus points to anyone who leaves a comment about how my wife and I are bad parents because our child is a child and throws the occasional tantrum.

I’m super excited to read about how YOU would handle the situation.

*laughs; rolls eyes*
