Over 3000 soldiers to help fight illegal mining



President Cyril Ramaphosa has signed off on the deployment of 3 300 soldiers, to help fight illegal mining. It will come at a cost of nearly half a billion rand, for six months. The Presidency says soldiers will work with police, under Operation Prosper. DA MP Kobus Marais says this will lead to a further deterioration of the defence force to do its primary task and that is to defend the intergrity of the country and secure the safety.
