Glencore has announced it will close all copper mining operations in Mount Isa, Queensland — one of the biggest copper mines in Australia.
The multinational said all copper mining at the site will cease in 2025, raising questions about the “ripple effect” that could be felt across the community it props up.
Despite the major closure, other copper mines are expanding across the region.
