  1. Avid Civ player here since the very first on Amiga 🤓. Sadly the Aspyr ports are rather broken and it's Proton all the way. Both, V and VI, will eventually start to crash and/or run out of memory and both are so freakin slow compared to the Windows version with Proton. It's my understanding that we won't see any fixes too because the contracts are void now(?).

    Still excited for VII.

  2. CachyOS should perform even better on AMD CPUs as they offer Zen 4-optimized repos. Unfortunately, Linux still lacks behind supporting Intel Raptor Lake, I saw 10-15% worse performance with a 14700KF on CachyOS than on Windows 11 24 H2.

  3. And people still say online that linux has unplayable framerates. Unless the game is utterly broken it's not the case and those people are just stuck in their experience from 10 years ago. I started using linux almost 10 years ago and yes gaming was pretty rough in terms of what ran and what didn't but if things ran then performance wise it was never as bad as i see people comment all over the internet. Genuinely curious if those people used like Debian with super old packages or why did they allegedly have such bad experience.

  4. Ive been distro hopping for awhile now, finally stopped on Nabora for the last few months. Its been the most stable for me out of the box with my Nvidia system.

  5. Nobara is in development with spaghetti code flying everywhere. Once Nobara wins the arms race assuming its not an arms dealer in it, a properly patched system can do better.
