The base vehicles, dubbed the G550 (and the G500 in some areas), include a new 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbocharged engine with a mild hybrid system in place of the old V8 engine. This technology gives the G-Class 443 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque by combining an electric auxiliary compressor with an exhaust gas turbocharger. An integrated starter generator that adds 20 horsepower and 148 lb-ft to the mild hybrid arrangement. Although it has a little bit less torque, this configuration produces a total power increase of 27 horsepower over the previous model.
The G63 model, which has higher power, has not changed, but the G550’s engine size has. The 48-volt mild hybrid system and the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 engine, which produces 577 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque, are retained from the standard model. This beast can accelerate in just 4.2 seconds from 0 to 60 miles per hour. Both the G550 and G63 models have received slight visual improvements in the 2025 upgrades. Notably, the G63 has a redesigned bumper design, adaptive LED headlights as standard, and a new color option called Manufaktur Hyper Blue Magno. There are six wheel sizes available to customers, ranging from 20 to 22 inches.
A wider range of gear ratios is now available with a new nine-speed automatic transmission including a torque converter. The torque split for all-wheel drive is 40-60 by default. Even with its smaller engine, the G550 still has excellent off-road performance. It has three mechanical differential locks and a low-range off-road gearing-compatible transfer case. The car keeps its approach and departure angles at thirty and thirty-one degrees, respectively, and its ground clearance of 9.5 inches.
To improve the off-roading experience, Mercedes has included an Off-Road Cockpit option into the MBUX infotainment system. With customization choices, this feature displays data on a 12.3-inch touchscreen and digital instrument cluster, including the position, altitude, steering angle, and temperature of the car. Additionally, a 360-degree camera system allows drivers to view the ground beneath the front end of the car thanks to the “Transparent Hood” feature, which was first available in the EQE and GLC.
The price of the new G-Class has not been released by Mercedes. The G63 is priced at $180,950, whereas the 2024 model started at $144,150. It is projected that prices for the 2025 models will rise somewhat.
