Virtualization
my thoughts on virtualizing things that can normally be bare-metal. NAS, edge-router, etc.
Yo what’s up everyone my name’s dave and you suck at programming.

Nice! Hey, u have any advice for "docker-ing" for ISP mail server on a hosting project? Like alpine .3
Dude I felt cool using FreeBSD for my server
I didn't even know about illumos
Illumos… next level of "i use arch btw"😉
im very new to networking and virtualization as a whole, but my first step into homelabbing this year was to set up opnsense in a proxmox vm, with the wan coming into a separate nic given to opnsense. i stumbled through it for the first few days, but im very happy with how it turned out. i use that same (pretty low-spec) box for a pihole lxc, and a little alpine server vm with a dashboard, traefik, etc. as someone new to routing and networking as a whole, being able to snap my opnsense drive and revert to those backups whenever i touched something i shouldnt have was a lifesaver.
