My prison story – 365 Days Heartbreak and Punishment – Artist Knut Andre Vikshåland
in this video I talk about going to prison and why i did so. and i talk about how it was there , what i learned and how it was going in there heartbroken.
I retrospect this was a great experience! I meet a loot of good people, and some bad ones.I had to deal with rules, i had to follow them, and get up in the morning. In prison i worked as a carpenter and painter and i did my art and writing in the evenings. The prison i was in was is a low security prison that can remind one more of a summercamp in summertime and a hig mointain ski resort in winter. for me it was a meditation resort where i got to do a loot of “soul” searching and mental rebooting. the worst was going in heartbroken , but it retrospect i think even this was a good thing because it made me go even deeper. Now i am back in my studio and this 365 days seem more like a strange dream.
Many people including my parents did not want me to post this , but in my opinion it is such an important part of my life that i need to tell the story. I have lisened to it myself , and hear i do jump around a loot but remember it is done without a script , so bear with me 🙂
Hope some of you get something out of it and Please give a tumbs up and feel free to ask questions in description 🎨

HOW I START A OIL PAINTING 🎨
I start straight on the canvas and from a point and work from dark to light by adding colors and light and from there I just let it evolve in to a painting. If i start with the face I start with the bright parts and build textures with brushwork from there. I start on a canvas that I have toned with turpentine and raw umber , I do let it dry before painting so the raw umber do not mix with the clear oil colors in the Painting process .

Rembrandt is by far the greatest painter in my view and leonardo da vinchi the greatest artist that ever lived.

most of my figure paintings my paintings is done from art photo done with tungsten 6/7 Dias film or from natura.

I also paint still lifes and landscapes stillifes from natura and the landscapes from art photo that i usaly do my self unless it is a comisson artwork

All my paintings is done freehand and with mainly old Holland paint

I am a Norwegian artist and painter that creates YouTube videos about how to make oil painting . on this channel I manly focus on oil paint and how to use brushes , oil painting medium , oil colors , how to mix oil paint , how to use the palette 🙂

I do make these videos to help others to become better painters and it makes me glad to hear that some of you get inspired 🙂

As Horace Mann did say,

Be ashamed to die until you have won some victory for humanity

This is my little contribution

My Focus as an Artist and painter is the paint itself and the aesthetics that evolves wile I transfer the motif on to the canvas. I am not a conceptual artist and my driving force for doing paintings is the personal challenge painting figurative gives me.
