With all the good lumber you can mill a small shack would be real nice to add somewhere kind of safe. A boat wood heater or box stove would make clothes dry and bones and joints feel better. Also would be good if you and the crew gets tired to have a place to lay down for a night or two

Check an industrial plumbing supply for those couplings. I use to use a coupler something like that. But for 4" fire water lines. It's been 42 years since I used something like that

For some reason I think if it were humans they would have closed the door when they left, and probably expected to return with more buckets. Next time you arrive blast an airhorn into that portal. Alert the critters you have arrived. We want you safe.

I hate vandalism as much as anybody else. Harry gets the nice cool air of Washington at your mine while Chad is rapidly losing weight in triple digit heat where he is this Summer. Chad's repurposed silo is looking good though. It is now September, and I guess Jason you only have a 4 month window to work your mine.
04:40 WARNING SECURITY CAMERAS IN USE. Whoever did the damage probably knew it was just a sign and there were not any cameras. A solar powered trail camera with a link to your cell phone may be a good idea. No cell service? Get a Starlink, somewhere above the mine a hidden area could be found and maybe you might find an air vent to run the Starlink cable. Deep cycle batteries charged by solar would be good too.
