  1. โ€œThe RS660 is really the best bike, but we donโ€™t want it to win every year so letโ€™s promote another oneโ€

Thatโ€™s okay MCN, Aprilia still knows itโ€™s the best

-a die hard shill for big A

  2. I'm not following the choice of bikes being compared. The only supersport is the ZX4R, the others are more sports tourers than supersport. Why not use a CBR600RR or a zx6r? Sorry but the R7 and gsx8r are not proper sports bikes, parallel twins just don't cut it. Give me that scream of an inline 4 any day.

  3. Youngsters have such different views from us 40s and up guys. Just watched another shootout on Bennetts Bike social where the Honda came first and Suzuki came last. This stuff is so subjective. Honda will prolly sell more 650 bikes than all these other guys combined due to the e clutch. It really is a game changer

  4. Im not sure if I can agree. I did drive CBR650R e-clutch and GSX-8R.
Sure, CBR is not perfect, but it is very good and the good thing is the engine, and e-cluch is way better then quick shifter. Fuel consumption in my hands at least is even slightly better then 8R what did suprise me the most. But last? How???
About 8R…. The possition is more comfortable like at the naked bike, but… seat is horrible. My ass can confirm that. This tail looks horrible and not even protect your back from the mud.
The suspension is not the best, but it is rly decent and now the engine… under 3,5k it have tone of the vibrations when you wanna accelerate and to be honest it still happens under 4k rpm. This engine does not like rpms under 4k and that is an issue if you care about fuel economy.
You can say it have very good mid end… Sure… but at the high end nothing happens. It drop the torque and even a bit of power at the end. Just lack of the power is the big issue here if you wanna have some fun with it. For normal driving it is very good, but nothing else.

  5. I don't get who these bikes are for. As a youngun', why would you not want a 4 banger that screams? As an older rider, there are infinitely bigger capacity bikes and/or more exciting middle-weight bikes from yesteryear that are so much more for the money. Such an odd category to me.

  6. I wonder if these tests deal with the suspension characteristics of each bike to determine the capability of the bike more accurately. The comments about the Daytona seems to indicate that they didn't or couldn't discriminate between a lack of properly adjusted suspension and a lack of inherent capability in the bike itself.

  7. Looks to me like something Iโ€™ve suspected for a long time, the best sports bikes are no longer head down, arse up, bars on the front wheel spindle.
Iโ€™m a 53 yr old tiger 900 rider and I reckon I can ride my bike on the road more briskly having more fun than on any middle weight sports bike and thatโ€™s got nothing to do with the extra power and certainly nothing to do with my ability or lack there of.
Sports bikes can be so focused these days that the only place they make sense are on the track.
