THe time has never been better to see SOMEONE….ANYONE….make a new OS. Just because Windos has been the standard for so long, doesn't mean it has a monopoly on OS. I think a point can be made they are now only using the OS as spyware/.
I don't know why we don't just move on from Windows to some better OS?
Windows 10 was fine after removing most of the bloatware. Windows 7 was good, and XP was awesome.
But really, this has been a decline since the XP days, and we all know it.
Really, the main problem is that there isn't enough talk about viable alternatives and the fact that AMD doesn't want to give GNU and Linux users drivers that work.
Right now, steam is the main force I see pushing for better Linux support.
I will probably replace my Windows 10 with some distro that has decent support by the end of life of the OS.
No plans on "upgrading" to Windows 11.
"some effort"
😮😮My windows 7 laptop computer has not been on the internet for years. I use it for writing letters and running excel with my ancient Microsoft student program that I OWN. I stay current with my apple tablet and phone.
Staying 10 strong for the foreseeable future here. Past EOL and likely ESU too. Like i did for 7 until the PC hardware died. And was "forced" to go to 10. Anyways. Us 10s won't go down without a fight to the death! 💪🏻🤓🖖🏻
So, Microsoft doesn't want people to use their Operating Systems. Wonder what this'll do for Linux install numbers? I know if they decide to kill the 3 non-TPM computers I have running Win 11 Pro now, they'll have Ubuntu installed on them before that day is over.
I have several computers, and won't allow any Windows past 10. I'll study Win12 before I decide whether it's time to migrate away from Windows. I'll probably keep at least one computer using Win10, but beyond that, time will tell.
Why is nobody talking about the massive amount e-waste that Microsoft will cause with this move?
More reasons for people to switch to Linux! 😘
AND this is why I am an UBUNTU Linux user since Windows 7 was forced to go extinct. Windows can go get wrecked…
hate windows 11, only upgraded hoping they had fixxed the crap show of windows 10, supprise not supprised its worse.
cant move the bar, cant change window color settings, keeps asking for login info, really wish i could get dosbox and android to work in a linux dristro so i could stop using windows for good.
if Microsoft doesn't want me to have Windows, I'll just move into Linux. The OS is way more inviting, and actually more streamlined, and requires less space on my storage drive.
I simply switch to Linux when Windows reaches EOS. FMicrosoft!!
I am so glad I dumped windows and went with linux 10 years ago!
Playing hard to get when it's hard to want.
It's ironic, M$ blocking installation of Win 11 when no one really wants Win 11 anyway. I've installed blocks in my own computers so that M$ can't "automatically" make them run Win 11 by some sneaky "upgrade." Maybe Win 12 will be worthwhile, or maybe I'll just finally go to Linux, but Win 11 will never be on my computers; YMMV!
I would use Edge if it doesn't come with a perma-bill face wash time I open it.
Bye, bye Windows …
Get Linux or BSD already, you silly N-PC drones. I have been using it for over 25 years with zero need for windoze.
I can't upgrade which is funny. I'll probably just switch to Debian anyway.
After months of annoyance, partitioned my drives, installed Windows 10, migrated over.
Windows 11 tires to hard to be better while making simple tasks difficult. I won't even bother with the privacy transgressions. Windows 10 can be today's XP, stable and simple (debloated).
Great. Perhaps even more might move to Linux when W10 is EOL.
Oh great failed artists are mad that AI can do a better job than them so instead of following the age old saying of Get Good they just ban AI on their useless garbage hated system that no one actually really uses.
Oh great now you can't download Windows 11 on a computer built in 2002 and you have to upgrade to a newer computer.
Win 11 is the reason I bought a Mac
Fortunately I know how to manually install windows using dism and build the bootloader. That’ll bypass setup checks. If they want to stop the loopholes they’re going to have to prevent it from booting on an installed system.
This is sloppy journalism.
First of all, Microsoft doesn’t want people with old hardware running Windows 11. Of course they don’t! If they let everyone upgrade, they’d have the same situation they had with Windows Vista, which everyone hated because they installed it on 10-year-old hardware, which couldn’t handle it and their computers became slow. TPM 2.0 isn’t exactly a new technology; it’s on almost every computer manufactured since 2016. Sure, you could hack your iPhone 7 to run iOS 18 (that’s how old we’re talking), but would that really be a good experience? Let’s be reasonable here.
Second of all, these really vague clickbait titles are getting old. It’s not quite a “content farm” level of clickbait yet, but it’s getting there. I clicked on this video thinking Microsoft did something forceful, when really all they did was patch a vulnerability that was exploited by people with 9-or-more-year-old hardware who ignored system requirements and tried to install the OS anyway. An unusable operating system is the risk you take when you deliberately use a workaround to install an OS on a machine it wasn’t designed for.
If you want control of Windows, use MajorGeeks Windows Tweaks. Dont say you werent warned. Windows is a greed based OS.
bureaucrats always make terrible CEOs
here i've been trying to stop microsoft from "upgrading" my system to win 11. I upgraded my processor a year or so ago, and when i did, it just happened to "meet requirements" for win 11. And ever since they have pop ups all the time saying "do you want to upgrade now" . IMO I THINK at some point they will "force" people to upgrade that haven't done so already. Just like they are doing with Onedrive, and installing it even if you have previously purged it from your system, it now not only reinstalls via "windows update" but apparently MS is backing up your files whether you want them to or not. And everyone who has a system that isn't "up to snuff" to run Win 11, they will use major program titles like MS Word, games, etc from MS AND others, to make those systems obsolete over a short time period. So either upgrade your pc to meet requirements, buy a new computer… or do without.
Honestly, this can only help those of us intending to stick to 10. I disabled TPM at the BIOS level, so Windows thinks I "don't have one', therefore no sneaky kicking me to 11…
They patched a bug. Big whoop.
I am using Garuda Linux now, and it's going great.
tried win 11 for about 2 months downgrade to win 10 it suck for me encounter weird bug
Truly funny, but hard to understand the guy off camera.
I am a single disabled millennial who's been expected to exist on $800-$1k/month my whole adult life, which half of goes into minimum meds costs & I literally NEVER have the chance at anything nice like a new laptop or flagship phone, etc. (For those of us never allowed credit, loans, etc.)
The laptop I currently have is a 2016 HP Pavillion I got used on ebay about 2019; Huge & purple, with DTX speakers, disk drive, one working USB-A port, upgradeable parts (incl. new SSD & 8gb RAM), new battery replaced, etc. I have wanted to keep & upgrade this thing so bad, but then I started getting messages pop-ups from Microsoft saying my hardware is too old to continue running Win11 & to get a new PC.
Not only can I not afford a new laptop or PC, but Microsoft decided that one of the oldest & easiest apps available starting at the dawn of WINDOWS OS, is going to stop existing, unless you can pay up a yearly pmt of $70+ just to have access to Microsoft Word Pad!!
I will likely be stuck on old, outdated hardware forever, and these big tech companies are literally locking out the poverty class & keeping us in the dust…
Who the hell wants Windows 11?
Those unalive people's data are future Democrat voters. So, yes, it is bad for that data to be leaked.
Upgrade to Linux. I switched in 08 and haven't looked back since!
what a terrible company. what terrible scummy business practice.
😂 gnu linux ftw.
I am curious exactly how Microsoft is making money with requiring TPM 2.0. They obviously think they are.
Maybe we should just stop using an identification system, which had no security built in.
Multiple commercials… just as good as Microsoft
Not if you've ever been the pet of an outdoor cat it's not💀
Just don't use the paid version of Win 10 or 11… Use the X-Lite versions… Thank me later 👌😀👍
