The main problem with Linux gaming seems to be the poor design of games.
I live in mexico and lutris is loading thing too slow, it takes too long to just open lutris and keep gettings erros, this happens in all distros as well as the steam deck
im very early to linux, 2 weeks at most, and lutris/wine/proton is the most clever thing ever
File exe not found for all games…pop os
I love Lutris. It exposes some more advanced stuff in an easy way. I use it to play all of my non-steam games. I generally don't use the install scripts unless there is a major issue.
I'm glad I don't like online games, so the issue is not relevant to me. Still, if this stays a problem, many players won't switch to Linux, because of that. By the way, what happened with the video? It was cut short at the end.
I really love Lutris because it gives me the largest amount of useful settings/options with the least amount of effort on my part.
I use it for my non-steam games, it allows me to play DRM-free Steam games that can be launched without the Steam client eg. Baldur's Gate 1/2/3 easily and it is also great for Linux native games that were made for some old version of Ubuntu and rely on old libraries which Lutris brilliantly takes care of.
Truly the best gaming related piece of software right now imo.
men the backend of some games are really a pain. at somepoint i want to selfhost a "no man's sky server" and day after day i see that unlikely
i sure would like more visibility on the lutris installer scripts. have had some surprises where they were suddenly installing some executable off a private onedrive and it was NOT required. all the game needed was a DLL override not some random-ass powershell wrapper executable
Games should NOT have kernel access… Nothing other than drivers should have kernel access, i switched to linux to get away from all the windows garbage
