Linux Mint, Ubuntu, install newer kernel with Ubuntu mainline kernel

Setting up the latest kernel versions on Ubuntu and similar systems – here’s how.
I bought an Acemagic AX 15 notebook and wanted to install Linux, more precisely Linux Mint, on it. Due to the modern hardware of the notebook, I expected some challenges, and indeed some problems occurred.
