I want to be clear, I don’t know the internal facts, I’m watching this play out the same way all of you have see in.
Having said that, in the interests of full disclosure: I have an existing business relationship with LMG in the form of a FloatPlane channel, it’s not a big relationship, but it exists. I’ve talked to Linus perhaps 6 times in the past 5 years, once via video, the rest via email or DM. I don’t “know” Linus any more than anyone else does. I’ve talked to Steve Burke privately perhaps 3 times in the same 5 years, again I don’t “know” him either.
PS. Yes this live stream is monetized and has sponsors, because we have bills to pay and this is my job. I find the whole “we’re not making money directly from THIS video” stance to be a bit silly since it makes the company money overall via increased visibility.
