Improvements with the new Reader FW – Linux and ReaderStart SW!
Brief information: This video shows the advantages of the new SW packages. An update is available for download for the following SW packages:
FW: 3.14.02 – for all Kathrein RAIN RFID readers
Linux: 3.50.08 – for all x5xx readers e.g. ARU 3500 or RRU 4500
ReaderStart SW: 3.50.10 – for all Kathrein RAIN RFID reader
API (incl .NET8): 3.50.06 – for all Kathrein RAIN RFID readers

3. Smart Reader Mode
The smart reader mode optimizes the reading behavior of the Kathrein readers and simplifies the parameter selection, because only static transponders and moving transponders are distinguished.
Attention: when updating existing systems, we recommend only rebooting the readers after the update! For new applications, the reader should also be reset to factory settings after the update.
4. NTP server selection
Previously, only one NTP server could be created, from which the time information is retrieved at regular intervals. What is new is that up to 5 NTP servers can now be created, and the system checks which access to the NTP server failed or was successful.
5. CutOff time directly selectable in ExpertSettings E1
The CuttOff time can now be used to (briefly) interrupt the read process in order to display intermediate results that have already been read more quickly.
6. LogRotate
With Logrotate, the activities on the Linux board of the RRU 4500 and ARU 3500 can also be noted in order to evaluate them in the event of an error. In addition, the AT commands to the mobile radio provider and its responses can also be logged for the RRU 4570.
7. extension .NET8
If customer applications are developed in a .NET environment, it is now possible to integrate the latest .NET8 version. The packages for .NET6, .NET7 and .NET8 are offered with the API examples.
