😂 do you mean like Apple already does? Core OS is the same – APIs are a subset on iOS…
I would use this. I use Linux now but I'd love to run all my android app and the current android vm's are not much good.
Could be a protective move branding wise to survive Sherman and consolidate away from Chrome brand. Firefox could be toast if they don't embrace Perplexity.
There is a fundamental misunderstanding that tech people have. Android or Linux isn't an important distinction. It's the GUI layer that is relevant to normal people. The GUI layer could be sitting on MacOS for all it matters.
Cool
Well I guess you are too young to remember that Android was created as an open source project back in the 90's Google promised lots to get very talented programmers to volunteer their time to the project. Just to have Google claim the hole thing as theirs and erased the record. (So much for not being EVIL) What you see going on is the project going BACK to it's roots. Android has always been Linux. Just like Apple osX is BSD. (A similar Open source Unix os that is compatible with Linux. License held by Berkeley University) Chrome OS is nothing more than a distribution of Linux. Just like windows Google steals everything they can and claims it as theirs.
Strange That Microsoft was deemed a monopoly years ago. But they did not have to split things up because old Bill GATES has rich family in the government.
Don't think for a minute that once things get going for the Chrome OS Google won't swoop in and Claim it all again. Just like what Apple did with OSX.
Why would I goto Google when Linux already exists and does not sell every click I make.
Linux on DeX is finally coming to Stock Android after almost a decade!
is chromeOS is nothing more than a tiny linux os with Chrome the browser on it, how is android, with Chrome the browser on it, much different?
I love the idea. If Android continues as such, it'd have much better chances of leeching market share than chrome os or Linux alone.
Sounds too good to be true,, i prolly wont use it would not use it cuz Corporations love data mining
If you will be able to do this stuff with android I might switch over from IOS
