AWS Storage Gateway, File Gateway is a cloud service that enables you to store and retrieve file data via standard Network File System (NFS) or Server Message Block (SMB) protocols. You can deploy applications in the same network as the File Gateway server, mount an NFS or SMB file share, and utilize it as network storage. While the gateway provides the local network storage interfaces, the file shares you create are backed by Amazon S3 object storage buckets. This enables you to take advantage of low-cost cloud storage, while providing high-performance network storage via a local cache.
