Bioluminescent Cluster II
explores the similarities between microscopic structures and macroscopic patterns.
Through simulations based on the Flow Field system, the work visually reveals the structural parallels between cells and galaxies, intuitively expressing the interconnectedness of these two worlds.
The light particles in the piece evoke the movement of bioluminescent plankton in the ocean or celestial bodies in space, illustrating the process by which individual elements coalesce into larger patterns.
When viewers interact with the work by touch, the dynamic system within the piece responds, altering visual patterns and structural arrangements.
This interaction is inspired by the “observer effect” in quantum mechanics, where the observer plays a crucial role in influencing and generating new forms within the artwork.
“Bioluminescent Cluster II” visually and sonically embodies key concepts of contemporary science—such as the repetitive structures of nature, the unpredictability of complex systems, and quantum entanglement—while exploring the interconnectedness between humanity and the cosmos. This work is part of the artist’s ‘Kosmos’ series.

발광군집 II 는 미시적 구조와 거시적 패턴의 유사성을 탐구한다.
Flow Field 시스템 기반의 시뮬레이션을 통해 세포와 은하계의 구조적 유사성을 시각적으로 드러내며, 두 세계의 상호 연결성을 직관적으로 표현한다.
작품 속 빛의 입자들은 바닷속 발광 플랑크톤이나 우주 공간의 행성 움직임을 연상시키며, 개별 요소들이 모여 더 큰 패턴을 형성하는 과정을 보여준다.
관객의 터치 인식은 작품의 동적 시스템에 변화를 주어 시각적 패턴과 구조적 배열을 결정한다.
이 상호작용은 양자역학의 ‘관찰자 효과’에서 영감을 받았으며, 관찰자가 작품의 형태에 영향을 주어 새로운 형태가 생성되는 과정에서 중요한 역할을 한다.
발광군집 II 은 자연의 반복적 구조, 복잡계의 예측 불가능성, 양자 얽힘 현상 등 현대 과학의 주요 개념들을 시각적, 청각적으로 구현하며, 인간과 우주 사이의 상호 연결성을 탐구한다. 이 작품은 작가의 ‘Kosmos’ 시리즈 중 하나이다.
