Install Kali Linux NetHunter on Android in 10 Minutes (Rootless)

I want to know if I do not have a root and install an adapter on the phone, can I activate Monitor Mode and hack the Wi-Fi normally or do I have to do the root because I knew that the root on the phone to hack the Wi-Fi is only to activate the Monitor Mode?
